Chat on your phone
There is nothing to download from an app store. Add Chat to your home screen from your browser, and it opens full screen like an app.
iPhone
Open Chat in Safari
It has to be Safari.
Tap the menu, then Share
The menu button is the three lines in the address bar.
Tap Add to Home Screen
Tap View More first if you do not see it.
Turn on Open as Web App
Then tap Add. Open Chat from the home screen icon from now on.
Android
Open Chat in Chrome
Tap the three dots at the top right.
Tap Add to Home screen
Then pick Install, not Create shortcut.
Tap Install
Chat lands on your home screen and opens in its own window.
Notifications
- Open the installed app and tap Allow notifications once.
- On iPhone, notifications only come to the installed app, not to Safari.
- A new message notifies the people who follow that chat.
- Signing out stops notifications on that phone.
