API keys

Every call to the Base APIs uses an API key that belongs to one brand.

Making a key

Label

A name you will recognise later, such as Order updates.

Expires

Optional. After this date the key stops working.

Limit per minute

How many calls the key may make each minute.

Treat it like a password

When a key is made, Base shows the full key once. Copy it then and store it somewhere safe. After that, only the label and its status are shown.

Status of each key

Revoke or delete

Revoke

Calls using the key get 401 at once. The key stays in the list as revoked.

Delete

The key and its audit row are removed for good. This cannot be undone.

Who can manage keys

Only people whose role includes API access can make, revoke or delete keys. Others see the list read-only.
