Two ways Base uses documents
Ask about a file
Attach a file in a chat with Ask Base and ask questions about it, or ask it to use it for a task.
Files Base can read
- Agent knowledge: PDF, Word, Excel (.xlsx, .xlsm), PowerPoint (.pptx), CSV, JSON, Markdown or text, up to 25 MB.
- Ask Base chats: the same, plus pictures and video (MP4, M4V, MOV or WebM).
- Scanned PDFs: the scanned pages are read with AI, which uses credit.
Tips for good answers
- Give each document a title that says what is inside, like Opening hours or Price list.
- Keep one topic per document so the agent finds the right answer.
- The assistant also learns facts from documents and keeps them in AI memory. People with the Memory permission can see which documents it has read.
